Who we are

DinoSpace is made by Karthikeya Arikirevula, an independent developer. If you have any questions about this policy or the app, email dinospace.app@gmail.com.

Information we collect

None. DinoSpace has no sign-up, no login, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking software. The app does not ask for, collect, or transmit your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, device identifiers, or any other personal information.

The NovaSaur AI

NovaSaur is DinoSpace's built-in helper for dinosaur and space questions. It is powered by Google's Gemma model running locally on your device (using LiteRT-LM). That means:

• Questions you type and the answers you get are processed entirely on your device. They are never sent to us or to any server.
• Your chat history is stored only on your device. You can delete it at any time in Settings → Clear Data → AI chat history, or by uninstalling the app.
• NovaSaur is designed to only discuss dinosaurs, prehistoric creatures, and space, and never asks for personal information. AI answers are generated automatically and can sometimes be wrong — you can report a bad answer by tapping it and choosing Report this answer.

How the AI model gets onto your device

When you install DinoSpace from Google Play, the NovaSaur model (about 3 GB) is delivered by Google Play as part of the app install, under Google's own privacy policy. We do not receive any information about this.

If the model is ever missing (for example, on a version of the app not installed through Google Play), the app can download it directly from Hugging Face, a file-hosting service. Like any web download, Hugging Face's servers process standard connection information (such as your IP address) to deliver the file — see the Hugging Face privacy policy. No account is needed, nothing about you is sent by the app, and we receive nothing.

Information stored on your device

DinoSpace keeps a few things locally so the app works, all of it on your device only: saved (bookmarked) entries, quiz scores, your daily streak, which entries you have viewed, and your NovaSaur chat history. You can erase any of this in Settings → Clear Data, and everything is removed if you uninstall the app.

Permissions the app uses

• Internet & network state — only used to fetch the NovaSaur AI model if it isn't already on the device. The encyclopedia, quizzes, and AI chat all work fully offline.
• Approximate location (optional) — only if you allow it, and only to point Sky Tonight at your part of the sky (moon phase, visible constellations and planets). The calculation happens on your device; your location is never stored or sent anywhere. If you say no, Sky Tonight uses a general Northern-sky view instead.
• Camera (optional) — only if you allow it, and only inside Scan Sky, where the live camera view appears behind the star overlay. Nothing is captured, stored, or sent anywhere. If you say no, Scan Sky draws a rendered night sky instead.

Children's privacy

DinoSpace is designed to be safe and enjoyable for all ages, including children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your region). This approach is consistent with children's privacy laws such as COPPA (United States) and PIPEDA (Canada). The app shows no ads and contains no social features, chat with other people, or in-app purchases.

Third-party services

The app does not include advertising or analytics SDKs. The only third parties involved are Google Play (app and AI-model delivery) and, only as a fallback described above, Hugging Face (direct model download).

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects privacy, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's "What's New" section.
